SAparty – 2000

SAparty.com

In April of 2000 I laid out the architecture for what would be on of the most technologically advanced web sites of it’s era.  The San Antonio Party Guide (saparty.com) exceeded 1 million visitors for over 13 months and was a monumental trendsetter sparking countless imitations.

Highlights of this project:

  • Introduced the first Rich Media Advertisement Platform (music/video) & Online Social Network in San Antonio. ( May 8, 2001)
  • One of the first local sites to secure relationships with national advertisers such as Red Bull, Liz Claiborne, and Jack Daniels
  • Through strategic on/offline guerrilla marketing the site exceeded over 1 million visitors/month for 13 months.
  • Local Event Promotions would draws crowds of over 500 on average
  • Over 45,000 emails in the newsletter list
  • Created key B2B Relationship with AOL/Time Warner as their entertainment information provider for the Interactive TV roll out, and local AOL/TW portals using saparty.com’s content. (now known as widgets)

The technology running this application was later sold and the site was shut down.  All in all the experience of creating such a site brought along some of greatest business relationships that I still maintain today.  It was one heck of a ride while it lasted.

The San Antonio Current 1999

The San Antonio Current

One of my favorite web site projects, the 2nd version of the San Antonio Current.   In April of 1999 I was called by the San Antonio Current, San Antonio’s leading Alternative News Weekly to assist in creating their online presence.  What happened after that was a first for San Antonio.  We created the first weekly E-Zine for San Antonio.  Complete with a Content Management System, an Archive Solution, Site Search, Forums you name it the site had it all.   Here are just a few of highlights from this project:

* Each department had the ability to manage their portion of the site

* Allowed updates on the fly

* A complete archive solution

* Web Site Training for the staff

* Parse and create web friendly documents  from print version via custom software.  This was really neat the user hit save in quark and it made a web friendly document.  Remember that this happened in 1999.
